IMPORTANT: No person, organisation or your employer can charge you money by assisting you in obtaining a BC MSP card. Government of British Columbia confirms that there is no fee to apply for an MSP Card. If you are a temporary foreign worker your employer must assist you in obtaining the MSP card as part of their obligation of settlement.

If you are new to Canada, apply for MSP as soon as you arrive. Your coverage may start three months after your arrival date in British Columbia. If you are temporary worker your employer is responsible to private health care insurance while you wait. If you are migrating it is your responsibility to obtain private health care for 90 days before becoming eligible for provincial medical.
Before applying ensure you have identification for everyone on your application. You will be asked to upload digital images of documents that support the name and Canadian citizenship or immigration status for all persons.
