Applying for a Social Insurance Number [ SIN]

IMPORTANT: No person, organisation or your employer can charge you money by assisting you in obtaining a SIN card. The Government of Canada confirms that there is no fee to apply for a Social Insurance Number (SIN).

If you have access to a computer and scanner you can make use of Government of Canada’s online system to apply for a Social Insurance Number [SIN] card. As a foreign worker your employer is responsible to assist you in obtaining your SIN card. Your SIN is personal and confidential information that you must not share with people or organisations that do not need information for other purposes.
